Diabetes Clinic


The Diabetic Clinic at Klinik Rawatan Keluarga (KRK) has been operational since 2015, managed by Family Medicine Specialists, Family Medicine Trainees, and Medical Officers. The clinic receives referrals from medical officers based on specific criteria and provides comprehensive management care tailored to each patient's needs, emphasizing self-care management to achieve and maintain good control with optimal medication. Screening for diabetes complications is an integral part of the management, involving a multidisciplinary approach to ensure patients maintain a good quality of life.

Services Provided:

  1. Patient Education: Teach patients about their condition, including causes, risk factors, and the importance of management.
  2. Monitoring: Help patients monitor and manage their blood glucose levels.
  3. Screening for Diabetic Complications: Arrange for screening of microvascular and macrovascular complications.
  4. Dietary Counseling: Offer dietary advice to patients, as it is a crucial role in diabetes management, with involvement of dietitian in certain cases
  5. Medication Management: Assist patients in optimizing their medications to reach their targets.
  6. Foot Care: Conduct foot examinations and provide care to prevent and treat issues such as nerve damage, poor circulation, and ulcers.
  7. Eye Screening: Refer for eye examinations (Fundus camera in KPP) to screen for diabetic retinopathy and other diabetes-related eye problems.
  8. Support and Counseling: Offer psychological support and counseling services to help patients cope with the emotional aspects of the condition, such as adjusting to lifestyle changes, managing stress, and dealing with diabetes-related anxiety or depression.
  9. Referrals: Refer patients to other medical specialists for further evaluation and management of diabetes-related complications if necessary.
