MMed OPHTHALMOLOGY

Introduction

MASTER OF MEDICINE (MMED) PROGRAMME

The Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) is a clinical postgraduate programme spanning 4 to 7 years, divided into three phases: Phase I (Year 1), Phase II (Years 2-3), and Phase III (Year 4). The programme follows the National Postgraduate Medical Curriculum (Ophthalmology) and is designed to provide trainees with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to become competent and safe ophthalmologists.

Trainees will engage in active learning through clinical sessions in clinics, wards, and the operating theatre, with research components incorporated from Years 2 to 4. Surgical skills development begins with wet lab sessions, and trainees will receive guidance on research protocols and manuscript preparation.

Progress is assessed through work-based evaluations, and trainees are required to complete the Professional I Examination, Professional II Examination, and the Phase III Assessment.
