The department is active in publication, with numerous articles being published yearly in indexed journals, both international and national journals.

Research and innovation are encouraged, and the department is involved in national and international collaborations. A variety of grants have been secured including Short Term Research Grants, Research University Grants, Community Grants and Fundamental Research Grant Scheme. These grants support research and innovation projects which generates new knowledge in strategic basic and applied sciences, improve research capabilities, as well as develop human capital to encourage the generation of ground-breaking theories, concepts and ideas.
