Mission

"Is to provide excellence in Teaching and Learning, Laboratory Services, Training and Research Activities".

Vision

We aspire to be recognized as an Academic Department and  the Laboratory Services of excellence to support and enhance the mission and vision of School of Medical Sciences and Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia.

Objectives

Our general objectives in Laboratory Services & Research

1.To provide excellent laboratory medicine services for the patients of Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia in a timely &  professional manner.

2. To provide the physical facilities and atmosphere where research activities can flourish, in collaboration with other institutions.

3. To provide an atmosphere of respect for our staff while encoraging continued personal growth, education and development.

Ratio of postgraduate student to eligible lecturers is not more than 3 to 1

At least 75% of eligible lecturers to be the main supervisor for research / dissertation to a minimum of one postgraduate student

Percentage of international postgraduate students is at least 2%

At least 20% of PhD candidates submit their thesis within 7 semesters

At least 35% of MPath (ChemPath) Candidates graduate within 8 semester

6

At least 60% of eligible academic staff will be involved in research as Principal Investigator

7

At least 60% of eligible academic staff publish paper in the indexed journal
