Rebranding our Pre-hospital Care: A New Mandate to Strengthen the PPP Profession at USM Hospital
Pre-Hospital Care (PHC) is the initial treatment provided to patients outside of hospital settings during emergencies, aiming to reduce morbidity and mortality before the patient reaches a medical facility.
The Medical Assistant (PPP) has been entrusted with the mandate and responsibility to lead PHC, as PPPs are a trained and professional workforce skilled in delivering initial care.
According to the Director of USM Hospital, Dato' Professor Dr. Nik Hisamuddin Nik Ab. Rahman, PPPs are among the frontline teams that play a crucial role in the field of medicine and healthcare.
"This is evident through their involvement in pre-hospital care and ambulance services, in addition to their collective efforts in leading and coordinating these services by acting as the 'first responders'."
