Master in Medicine (Emergency Medicine)


Master in Medicine (Emergency Medicine) is a 4-year-course aims to produce compasionate Emergency Physicians to cater the needs mainly in the Ministry of Health Malaysia. We also accept international students who fullfill the requirements needed.

This Programme Learning Outcomes are to produce Emergency Physicians who are able to:

  • Demonstrate competent and compassionate care and advocate evidence-based practice in emergency medicine specialty 
  • Embrace in life-long learning to reinforce personal and professional development
  • Display professionalism and leadership qualities in mentoring, managing and utilizing resources for efficient and effective emergency medical practice
  • Demonstrate competencies to conduct, collaborate and innovate in the clinical practice and research

The minimum entry requirements include:

  • Fully registered with the Malaysian Medical Council with a requirements for current annual practising certificate
  • Successful entry evaluation to the programme

The minimum training duration is 48 months. This consists of  rotations in Emergency, Point of Care Ultrasound, Paediatrics, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Anesthesiology, and Orthopaedics. The course also include dissertation, statistics, and scientific writing as partial requirements.

The main assessments include Phase 1 and Phase 2 examinations (Theory and Clinical). Each posting or rotation will have continous assessment. 

Other than academic activities, this program is also rich with adventures and non-conventional types of learning activities which include travelling medicine, outdoor activities, water and diving medicine, disaster training and so on, which are highly encouraged. Our aim is to provide a balance environment despite the busy and hectic nature of Emergency Medicine.
