TOXICOLOGY ANALYSIS
BACKGROUND
The Pharmacology Laboratory offers qualitative diagnostic test services for screening and confirmation of drugs in urine. Drug screening tests were performed using the Enzyme-Multiplied Immunoassay Technique (EMIT) method. Meanwhile, the confirmation test uses the method of thin layer chromatography (TLC).

Complete application must be registered through the online Lab Information System (LIS) along with completed Toxicology Request Form [RM017/02/10(P1)]. This form is available at the HUSM Medical Records Unit (Unit Rekod Perubatan HUSM).
*Important:
Please note that only samples submitted with completed Toxicology Request Form and signed by a Medical Officer will be processed. Test applications that are not registered in the LIS will be rejected.
For external customer, the form is available here.
To meet the certification requirements of MS ISO 15189 and MS ISO 9001, the Pharmacology Laboratory has set the following laboratory quality objectives:
(i) Toxicology screening test results will be verified within 1 hour after the request is received.
(ii) Toxicology confirmatory test results will be verified within 42 hours after the request is received.
