POSTGRADUATE STUDIES IN PHYSIOLOGY
INTRODUCTION
The department of physiology was established soon after the incorporation of the medical school in 1979. As part of a leading medical school in the country, using a problem-based curriculum in particular, it is responsible for teaching undergraduate & postgraduate students of medicine and dentistry. The department plays an important role to support Universiti Sains Malaysia towards transforming higher education for a sustainable tomorrow. Physiology academic staffs are involved in research and training of MSc and PhD students. Research covers many areas in Physiology, in particular reproductive physiology, neurophysiology, cardiorespiratory physiology and alternative medicine. Successful graduates from our programmes are expected to have a career in academic and research institutions and pharmaceutical industries.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT
The potential applicant for Master of Science (MSc) program should possess a MBBS/MD or equivalent degree, BSc (Hons) in Medical Sciences/Biotechnology/Biology or other related fields from a recognized university. LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS (FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ONLY)
A minimum score of 550 in TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
A minimum score of 6.0 in IELTS (International English Language Testing)
DURATION OF STUDY
The MSc and PhD program may be studied either on a full-time or part-time basis. A candidate should complete the programme within the minimum and maximum years as shown in table below.
