Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) proudly congratulates its Year 2 Medicine students for their commendable performance at the International Microbiology Quiz (iMicrobe’25), held on 17th May 2025 at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). The competition brought together some of the brightest young minds in microbiology from across Southeast Asia, including teams from Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
USM was represented by two teams of highly motivated and well-prepared students. Team B USM achieved an impressive 4th place, finishing just behind top-ranking institutions: National University of Singapore (NUS), Universitas Sumatera Utara, and Nanyang Technological University (NTU). This strong placement is a testament to the students' knowledge, teamwork, and passion for microbiology.
The success of USM’s teams was made possible under the guidance of Dr. Mohd Zulkifli Salleh, who served as the team coordinator. His unwavering support and mentorship played a crucial role in the students’ preparation and performance.
We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to all microbiology lecturers for their dedication in nurturing the students’ academic growth. Their continued efforts have significantly contributed to the students’ strong foundation and competitive edge in the field of microbiology.
