The Department of Medical Microbiology and Parasitology has extensive involvement in teaching, research and diagnostic services. Our academic staff teaches both the undergraduate (Medical Degree programme) and postgraduate students (Master of Pathology and Master of Science programme). In addition, the academic staff are also actively engaged in broad research activities ranging from Bacteriology, Mycology, Parasitology, Virology, Molecular Biology, Anti-microbial activities, and Epidemiology to diagnostics.

The department is also committed to providing diagnostic services to the Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia. Laboratories that are involved with these services are the Bacteriology, Mycology, Parasitology, Virology, Serology and Molecular Laboratories.
