Robotic Endoscopic System Simulation-Based Test Drive at i‑CSC
Date: 10–15 May 2026
Category: Training & Workshop Programmes | Technological Advancement | Clinical Simulation
The Integrated Clinical Simulation Centre (i‑CSC), Universiti Sains Malaysia, hosted a simulation-based test drive programme for the EDGE Endoscopic Multi‑Port 1000 Robotic System (MP1000) from 10 to 15 May 2026.
This initiative was conducted as part of a temporary placement of the robotic system at i‑CSC, providing an opportunity for specialists to explore and evaluate advanced robotic surgical technology in a controlled simulation environment.
The programme involved participants from multiple surgical disciplines, including:
- Urology
- Gynaecology
- General Surgery
- Colorectal Surgery
- Hepatobiliary Surgery
- Gastrointestinal Surgery
- Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT)
- Thoracic Surgery
Throughout the session, participants engaged in hands‑on simulation activities, allowing them to gain exposure to robotic system operation, instrument handling, and procedural coordination. The simulation-based test drive enabled specialists to familiarise themselves with the system’s capabilities and workflow prior to integration into clinical practice.
The structured sessions were conducted daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at i‑CSC, providing a dedicated platform for multidisciplinary learning and skills development. Installation of the system was completed earlier, followed by continuous hands‑on sessions before being dismantled at the end of the programme.
This programme reflects i‑CSC’s commitment to supporting innovation in surgical education, advancing simulation-based training, and facilitating exposure to emerging technologies among healthcare professionals.
