Microsurgical Skills Training (MiST) – 29 January 2026

Conducted by Orthopaedic Surgeons for Postgraduate Trainees, in Collaboration with i‑CSC

The Microsurgical Skills Training (MiST) programme was successfully conducted on 29 January 2026, led by the Orthopaedic Surgery team for their postgraduate trainees. This hands‑on training session was conducted in collaboration with the Integrated‑Clinical Simulation Centre (i‑CSC) to ensure a controlled, realistic, and skill‑focused microsurgical learning environment.

During the training, postgraduate participants were guided through essential components of microsurgery, including:

  • Introduction to microsurgical instruments and micro‑suturing techniques
  • Proper handling of micro‑needles, fine sutures, and delicate tissues
  • Use of the operating microscope and magnification tools
  • Hand–eye coordination and precision exercises
  • Foundational techniques applicable to reconstructive and orthopaedic microsurgery

With dedicated microsurgical workstations supported by i‑CSC and expert supervision from the Orthopaedic Surgery lecturers, trainees had the opportunity to practise, refine, and strengthen their fine motor control and surgical precision.

This programme reflects the ongoing commitment of the Orthopaedic Department and i‑CSC to provide high‑quality, advanced surgical training for postgraduate doctors and to enhance procedural competency in a safe simulation‑based environment.
