Paediatric Endocrine Services at HPUSM
Consultant: Associate Professor Dr. Suhaimi Hussain
Introduction
Paediatric Endocrine Services have been established at HPUSM since 2005 under the leadership of Associate Professor Dr. Suhaimi Hussain. The unit provides comprehensive care for a wide range of endocrine and diabetes-related conditions in children. Our services cover disorders involving the hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, adrenal glands, pancreas, gonads, parathyroid/bone metabolism, and adipose tissue.
We manage patients with diverse endocrine issues including short or tall stature, disorders of water and salt balance, congenital or acquired adrenal diseases, hypo/hyperthyroidism, persistent or refractory hypoglycaemia, rickets/osteoporosis, precocious or delayed puberty, fertility concerns, and obesity.
To ensure high-quality and up-to-date care, we utilise modern technologies and treatment such as insulin pumps/artificial pancreas systems, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), human somatotropin, GLP-1 agonist and genetic sequencing for rare endocrine disorders through collaborations with local and international laboratories.
