The Department of Medical Microbiology and Parasitology has extensive involvement in teaching, research and diagnostic services. Our academic staff teaches both the undergraduate (MD programme) and postgraduate students (MPath programme). In addition, the academic staff are also actively engaged in broad research activities ranging from bacteriology, mycology, parasitology, virology, molecular biology, anti-microbiology activities, and epidemiology to diagnostics.

The department is also committed to providing diagnostic services to the Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia. Laboratories that are involved with these services are the Bacteriology, Mycology, Parasitology, Virology, Serology and Molecular Laboratories.
