USM KUBANG KERIAN, KELANTAN, 5 Jun 2025 - Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) menerusi Pusat Pengajian Sains Perubatan (PPSP) meraikan 354 pelajar baharu Sarjana Klinikal Perubatan termasuk enam (6) pelajar antarabangsa pada 3 Jun lalu.
Dekan, Timbalan-timbalan Dekan, Ketua-ketua Jabatan serta seluruh barisan pengurusan PPSP hadir dalam program orientasi yang diadakan khusus bagi penyampaian informasi kepada kumpulan pelajar-pelajar baharu Sarjana Perubatan/Surgeri/Patologi, ambilan Jun 2025.
 
Kumpulan pelajar tersebut telah mula melapor diri pada 1 Jun bagi program-program Sarjana Perubatan, Sarjana Surgeri dan Sarjana Patologi dalam pelbagai disiplin perubatan.
 
Selain taklimat daripada barisan pengurusan PPSP, turut hadir menyampaikan perkongsian ialah Pegawai Institut Pengajian Siswazah (IPS), Pengurus Operasi Pusat Media dan Perhubungan Awam, Ketua Unit Keselamatan dan Kesihatan Pekerjaan (UKKP), wakil Perpustakaan Hamdan Tahir (PHT) dan wakil Pusat Pengetahuan, Komunikasi dan Teknologi (PPKT).

  1. THE PTPTN EDUCATION LOAN SCHEME

    Providing education loans to students pursuing their studies in local institutions of higher learning (IPT). This loan will enable students to fully or partially pay their fees and their subsistence for the duration of their studies in the IPT.     MyBrain15 Programme under the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia

    The MyBrain15 is a special funding programme initiated by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia under the Pelan Strategik Pengajian Tinggi Negara (PSPTN). It aims to to create a pool of brilliant human resources as catalyst for dynamic research and innovation activities.     Briefly, the key points are the following:

USM Graduate Assistant Scheme

USM Graduate Assistant Scheme
 

The Graduate Assistant Scheme was introduced to enable postgraduates to enhance their skills by assisting in various events and activities in their respective Schools/CoEs.


Financial Assistance

With the exception of semester breaks, the Scheme supports the recipients with monthly allowance.

Notes: Maximum appointment and funding for Master and PhD candidates are up to 4 semesters and 6 semesters,respectively.

The cost of fees imposed, as tuition and examination fees, traveling, personal bonds, health insurance, visa arrangement, are not included and are borne by candidate themselves. Applicants are encouraged to obtain fundings from other sources to fund the unsupported items.


ELIGIBILITY TO APPLY

  • Current full time research mode postgraduate students of Universiti Sains Malaysia
  • Students with financial assistance are not eligible to apply. (e.g; F/IDB/RLKA/ASTS/OTHERS)



ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants pursuing Masters degree must have:
    A Bachelor’s Degree (CGPA≥2.90) or equivalent qualification recognized by the Malaysian Government.
  • Applicants pursuing Doctoral degree must have:
    A Bachelor’s Degree (CGPA≥2.90) or equivalent qualification recognized by the Malaysian Government,
  • and a Master’s Degree (CGPA≥2.90) or equivalent qualification recognized by the Malaysian Government (Masters by coursework/mixed mode) or with a Master’s Degree by Research Mode

USM VIED

USM–Vietnam International Education Development (VIED) Joint Fellowship Scheme

USM-VIED Joint Fellowship Scheme is expected to benefit aspiring Doctoral students from Vietnam to pursue their degree in Universiti Sains Malaysia. Through this merit based programme, VIED shall support the recipient's accommodation and return air fares between Penang and Vietnam while Universiti Sains Malaysia will provide fellowship grants.
 

Programme Details

Universiti Sains Malaysia is a Malaysia’s premier public university with research and teaching facilities, experience, and a multi-disciplinary team of experts from among its staff members to undertake the creation, development, dissemination and application of knowledge that can contribute towards achieving the Malaysian Government goal of nation building.

  • USM-VIED Joint Fellowships are tenable in the Schools, and Centres of excellence in Universiti Sains Malaysia for a period of up to three years for studies leading to a PhD degree in the chosen area.
  • The academic year in Malaysia begins in September and the second semester in February of each year, following the year of applicant. However, research mode student are allowed to register at any time of the year, preferably at the beginning of the new semester.
  • Candidates will enrol for their PhD at a School/Centre in Universiti Sains Malaysia and must observe USM's academic calendar and be ready to start their fellowship.
  • The language of instruction is English

Who is Eligible to Apply?

The VIED Joint Fellowship Scheme is open to a potential Vietnamese postgraduate students who wish to pursue full time Doctoral studies in various research fields with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).


Academic Requirements

PhD Applicants

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree (CGPA≥3.25) or equivalent qualification recognized by the Malaysian Government; and
  • A coursework/mixed mode Master’s Degree (CGPA≥3.25) or a research mode Master's Degree with at least 1 article published in peer-reviewed journals or equivalent qualification recognized by the Malaysian Government.

    Programme Details
    • TWAS-USM Visiting Researchers Fellowships in natural sciences are tenable for a minimum period of one month to a maximum of three months at a school/department of the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). For a complete list of schools and departments at USM see http://www.usm.my/index.php/en/directories/academic.
    • USM will provide a standard monthly allowance which should be used to cover living costs, such as accommodation and food. The monthly stipend will not be convertible into foreign currency.
    • The language of instruction is English.
     
    Eligibility
     
    Applicants for these Fellowships must meet the following criteria:
     
    • Be a maximum age of 55 years on 31 December of the application year.
    • Be nationals of a developing country (other than Malaysia).
    • Must not hold any visa for temporary or permanent residency in Malaysia or any developed country.
    • Hold a PhD degree in a field of the natural sciences and a regular research assignment with at least five years of postdoctoral research experience.
    • Provide an official Preliminary Acceptance Letter from Institute of Postgraduate Studies (IPS), USM to TWAS. Requests for preliminary acceptance letter      must be directed to the Dean, Institute of Postgraduate Studies, USM who will facilitate assignment of a host supervisor.

    TWAS-USM Fellowship

    TWAS stands for the Third World Academy of Science. Each year, the TWAS Fellowship Programmes, which operate under agreements with governments and national organizations in developing countries, offer a number of fellowships to young scientists from developing countries to carry out postgraduate research in developing countries other than their own.

    The TWAS-USM Fellowship Programme for postgraduate research offers fellowships to young scientists from developing countries (other than Malaysia) who wish to pursue studies leading to a PhD degree in the natural sciences with Universiti Sains Malaysia.
     

    Programme Details

    1. TWAS-USM Fellowship Programme is tenable in the departments, institutions and laboratories of the Universiti Sains Malaysia for a period of up to three years for studies leading to a PhD degree in natural sciences.
    2. The academic year in Malaysia begins in September and the second semester in February of each year.
