KOTA BHARU, 16 May 2023 – The School of Medical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), held the official launch and handover ceremony for the foster children under the Community and Family Case Study Program for third-year students of the 2022/2023 academic session. The event was graced by the presence of YABrs Tuan Haji Mohd Anis bin Hussein, the District Officer of Kota Bharu, Kelantan, who officiated the ceremony.
The program, an integral part of the academic curriculum for the students, aims to provide hands-on experience in community engagement and family health care, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. It offers the students an opportunity to immerse themselves in real-world scenarios, allowing them to understand and address the health challenges faced by the local communities.

During the ceremony, Tuan Haji Mohd Anis bin Hussein emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering a strong sense of social responsibility among future medical professionals. He praised the efforts of USM in creating a program that not only benefits the students but also has a positive impact on the communities involved.

The event, held at the picturesque Pantai Kundur, witnessed the participation of students, faculty members, and local community leaders. It served as a platform for students to formally meet their foster families, with whom they will be closely working throughout the academic session. These families, residing in various parts of Kelantan, will play a crucial role in helping the students gain a deeper understanding of the local health issues.
The ceremony concluded with a group photo session and a tour of the local area, further strengthening the bond between the students and the community. The program is expected to continue contributing significantly to the healthcare landscape in Kelantan, while also shaping the students into compassionate and competent healthcare professionals.

The School of Medical Sciences USM remains committed to its mission of producing well-rounded graduates who are not only skilled in their field but also dedicated to serving the community.
