Supporting Community Health Through BLS Education and Early Screening Awareness

The Integrated Clinical Simulation Centre (i‑CSC), Universiti Sains Malaysia, participated in the community outreach programme“KPT Prihatin MADANI – Health Screening & Breast Cancer Awareness: Care for Your Health, Screen Early”, organised by the Breast Cancer Awareness & Research Unit (BestARi), Hospital Pakar Universiti Sains Malaysia, in collaboration with local community institutions and various USM departments. The programme was conducted at Wat Machimmaram, Pengkalan Kubor, Tumpat on 12 September 2026.
As part of the initiative, i‑CSC contributed by promoting community awareness of Basic Life Support (BLS) and emergency response skills. The team engaged participants through interactive demonstrations and educational activities designed to increase awareness of the importance of early action during emergency situations.
The programme brought together healthcare professionals, university staff, community organisations, and local residents in support of a common goal: improving health awareness and encouraging early health screening practices. Alongside breast cancer awareness activities and health services, community members were introduced to practical knowledge that can help create safer and more prepared communities.
Through its participation, i‑CSC reaffirmed its commitment to extending simulation‑based education and health promotion beyond the university setting. The programme provided an opportunity to strengthen partnerships between the university and the community while supporting preventive healthcare initiatives and public education.
The success of this engagement demonstrates the value of interdisciplinary collaboration in delivering impactful health programmes and reflects USM's ongoing commitment to community service, health promotion, and social responsibility.
