WELCOME TO THE DEPARTMENT OF CHEMICAL PATHOLOGY
Message from the Head of Department – Chemical Pathology
Welcome to the Department of Chemical Pathology, School of Medical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia.
As we move into 2025, I am proud to reflect on the department’s longstanding commitment to excellence in diagnostic service, academic teaching, and research innovation. Our department plays a vital role in supporting the healthcare system through the accurate and timely analysis of biochemical markers, which guide patient care and management.
Our academic programmes are designed to equip medical and postgraduate students with a deep understanding of laboratory medicine and clinical biochemistry. We are committed to producing graduates who are not only skilled in diagnostics but are also critical thinkers and ethical professionals ready to face the evolving challenges in healthcare.
The department continues to strengthen its research portfolio in areas such as metabolic disorders, endocrinology, and laboratory quality management. We actively collaborate with local and international institutions to foster impactful research that translates into clinical benefit.
In line with USM’s APEX vision, we emphasize sustainable healthcare solutions and are continuously upgrading our facilities to incorporate cutting-edge technologies, automation, and digital transformation in laboratory medicine.
I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to all our staff, students, collaborators, and healthcare partners who contribute to the department’s success. Your dedication and hard work are the foundation of our achievements.
As we look ahead, we remain committed to advancing knowledge, supporting clinical excellence, and nurturing the next generation of medical students and medical scientists. I invite you to explore our department and join us in our journey to improve health through science and innovation.
