The presence of paediatric cardiothoracic (heart surgery) specialists from the United Kingdom (UK) brings new hope to children with congenital heart defects in this state.

Each year, USM Hospital collaborates with the medical team from Healing Little Hearts (HLH) to perform heart surgeries on paediatric patients suffering from congenital heart disease.

This year's series of visits by the HLH medical team from the UK to USM Hospital, an estimated RM200,000 has been allocated for the total cost of congenital heart surgeries, scheduled for 10 paediatric patients aged between 10 months and 7 years.

All these children, suffering from various congenital heart conditions, are scheduled to undergo surgery over five days, led by the HLH medical team, with support from medical specialists and staff at USM Hospital.
