Empowering the Orang Asli Community Through Basic Life Support Training

The Integrated Clinical Simulation Centre (i‑CSC), Universiti Sains Malaysia, proudly participated in Program Bakti Siswa 2.0, a community engagement initiative organised by the Majlis Penghuni Desasiswa Murni Nurani (MPDMN), Universiti Sains Malaysia. The programme was held at Kampung Sungai Rual, Jeli, Kelantan, and brought together USM students, Hospital USM personnel, and the local Orang Asli community in a shared effort to promote health awareness and community empowerment. 

As a strategic collaborator, i‑CSC contributed its expertise by conducting Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training sessions for the Orang Asli community. Through interactive demonstrations and hands‑on learning activities, participants were introduced to essential lifesaving skills that could help improve emergency preparedness within their community. 

The training focused on increasing awareness of early emergency response and equipping participants with practical knowledge that may assist them in responding effectively during medical emergencies. Facilitators from i‑CSC guided community members through step‑by‑step demonstrations, allowing participants to gain confidence and experience in basic lifesaving techniques.

Beyond the training itself, the programme served as a meaningful platform for fostering stronger relationships between the university and the local community. It also reflected USM's commitment to volunteerism, social responsibility, and community‑oriented education.

Through initiatives such as Program Bakti Siswa 2.0, i‑CSC continues to support the university's mission of extending healthcare knowledge beyond campus boundaries and empowering communities through education, engagement, and practical skill development.
