Operation Theatre

Operation Theatre or room ( Dewan Bedah) is the area whereby all the operation took place. This area will be coordinated by OT coordinator with the help from the Matron (Head of Staffnurse) and Sister (Staffnurse). In USM, the total number of OT are 27 rooms. The main theatre is located at the first floor PPSP building just beside the Department of Anaesthesiology. It consist of 16 rooms which numbered from OT1 to OT16. Each OT are meant for certain department according to the size and facilities available. OT 5 and OT6 was design to Cardiothoracic Operation. OT 7 only for clean neurosurgical operation meanwhile OT 5 for other types of neurosurgical procedure. OT 13 was designed for spine and plastic reconstructive surgery. OT 1 and 0T2 was meant for emergency operation. OT 3 for urology and OT4 for gynaecological surgery. OT 12 and 9 is only for opthalmology surgery in which microscope was provided for microsurgery . OT 11 and OT10 was shared by other specialties in the orthopaedic department such as athroplasty, hand surgery and others. OT8 was meant for head and neck surgery and dental surgery especially maxillofacial surgery.

Other than main OT complex, the other OT was located in remote area. There are consist of Labour room OT which located near the labour room. MRI suites located in the department of radiology and oncology OT near the oncology unit at the ground floor hospital building. For the trauma cases, 2 OT was allocated for emergency trauma operation. They are located near the Emergency Department.
