I. Application Form
A single PDF document of not more than 3 pages in total (named FULLNAME.pdf), containing the following information:
i. CV containing
- Name
- Contact – phone and email address
- School – List all previous/ current high school/ matriculation centre/ pre-university college you have attended and years attended
- Academic Record – List all results of Mathematics/ Science subjects taken for SPM/ STPM and the year taken (If you will be sitting for SPM/ STPM in 2012, please provide trial exams results if available)
- Awards/ Achievements – List up to 10 relevant awards you have received in high school e.g. National Chemistry Quiz/ Olympiad Mathematics etc.
- Extra-curriculum activities – List up to 10 relevant school/ community/ voluntary activities involved and leadership role fulfilled e.g. Science club president etc.
- Academic Referee – Name one academic referee (e.g. Mathematic/ Science teacher) and contact details (preferably email address) NOTE: It must NOT be a family member
ii. 500-word essay on why you would like to participate in the Vacation Research Programme, and how will this be a unique experience for you.
II. Academic Transcript
- If you are currently a Form 5 student, please email a scanned copy of your latest academic transcript (named FULLNAME_transcript.pdf)
- If you are currently a Form 6/ matriculation/ pre-university college student, please email a scanned copy of your official SPM transcript (named FULLNAME_SPM.pdf)

Position(s) offered:  1-2 positions
Headed by Prof Jafri Abdullah, the Department of Neurosciences was established 10 years ago with researches conducted in the field of drug discovery, brain cancer and injury, neuro-regenerative medicine, stroke, epilepsy, memory and learning. Various sub-areas of this research are done with the cooperation between UPM, UMT, MAKNA, and UTM. Most of the students are involved in animal behavior research while others are involved in neurogenetics as well as stem cell research. In addition, neurophysiology studies using  EEG, ERP and MEG are done in two separate labs whilst compounds are being investigation for their effects in addiction and behavior using patch clamp. We welcome  students who are interested in neurosciences  and who think they can contribute to the small number of neuroscientists in Malaysia.
