Department of Community Medicine (DCM) or Jabatan Perubatan Masyarakat (JPM)
The Department of Community Medicine (DCM) or Jabatan Perubatan Masyarakat (JPM) is one of the biggest departments in the School of Medical Sciences. The academic staff come from various public health specializations such as Epidemiology, Family Health, Environmental and Occupational Health, Family Health and Health System Management. The department also has a strong team of support staff including Public Health Inspectors and Public Health Nurses.
JPM is also entrusted with the responsibility of teaching and supervising undergraduate programmes such as the Phase II component of the Community and Family Case Studies (CFCS) programme. JPM has achieved remarkable progress throughout the years. Currently, the department is responsible for Preventive Medicine Posting for undergraduate programmes and offering postgraduate programmes in research mode (MSc and PhD) and mixed-mode (MPH and DrPH) programmes.
The Department of Community Medicine School of Medical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia aspires to be the centre of excellence in public health, providing the teaching of public health at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level of the highest standard, and be a leader in research and innovation in the field of public health and community medicine.
