Coursework Mode Programme
Master of Public Health (MPH)
The Master of Public Health (MPH) programme is a two-semester course conducted fully in English. Besides advanced theoretical inputs, candidates are also exposed to hands-on learning in analytical skills, rigorous training in research methodology and direct field experience in the community. The general objective of the programme is to produce competent health professionals with appropriate knowledge and skills in public health. Graduates from the programme are expected to be able to plan, implement and evaluate effective public health programmes that can improve the quality of life of the community. The programme is most suitable for medical doctors who are faced with the challenges of promoting public health in developing countries.
Admission requirements:

- Candidates holding degree from unrecognized institutions are required to sit and pass the EPR Examination prior admission. The application for EPR is to be made via the Medical Register Information and Technical System (MeRITS) at meritsmmc.moh.gov.my.
2. Candidate MUST also possess at least 2 years experience after graduation, either in hospitals or other institutions certified and accepted by the University Senate
3. Local candidates are also required to attend a pre-test/interview before the final selection
4. Foreign candidates are required to go through a 3 to 6 months clinical attachment and assessment at the respective department
5. Candidate MUST also in good physical and mental condition
- Full-time: 4 semesters (2 years) / 8 semesters (4 years)
- Part Time: 6 semesters (3 years) / 10 semesters (5 years)

Programme Overview:
This programme aims to produce graduates who:
* Can work in a wide range of career opportunity such as in neurobusiness, neuromarketing, computational neurosciences, social neurosciences, neurolinguistics, neuroeducation, neurobehaviors, etc. at various institutions/companies
* Are able to continue their study at the doctorate level in the inter-disciplinary of arts and sciences.
The programme will be conducted at Universiti Sains Malaysia - KL Campus, Wisma Sejarah, Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur in year 1 (for core and elective courses).
Research Project will be held at a different location of Universiti Sains Malaysia such as in the Main Campus (Penang) or/and Health Campus (Kubang Kerian, Kelantan) depends on the chosen research topic.
Admission Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in any field of arts and sciences from recognised universities withA Bachelor’s degree in any field of arts and sciences from recognised universities withminimum CGPA 3.00 out of 4.00; (A Bachelor’s degree in any field of arts and scienceswhich are not meeting CGPA of 3.00 can be accepted subject to internal assessment byan independent review panel)
- Eligible candidates who qualify for admission will be called for pre-entry interview tocomplete the application process (if needed).

- A minimum of Band 7.5 for TOEFL Essentials (Online); or
- A minimum of Band 5 for IELTS; or
- A minimum score of 47 for PTE; or

- A minimum score of 154 for Linguaskill Online; or
- A minimum of Band 3.5 for MUET

i. Master in Psychology (Clinical) USM-UPSI with a minimum CGPA 3.00 out of 4.00.
Eligible candidates will be offered to enroll in Doctor of Psychology (Clinical Psychology) USM-UPSI with the approval from Panels of Admission Evaluation USM-UPSI. Candidates need to register for the doctorate program within three (3) years after graduation.
OR
ii. Master in Psychology (Clinical) or equivalent with a minimum CGPA 3.00 out of 4.00 which is accepted by USM and UPSI Senates and fulfill the criteria of Malaysian Qualification Agency - Program Standards for Psychology.
AND
Completed the required courses below:
- Statistics for Clinical Psychologists and Cognitive Neuroscientists; and
- Intermediate Psychometric; and
- Protocol Development in Clinical Psychology and Cognitive Neurosciences; and
- Ethics, Cross-cultural and Professional Issues; and
- Psychological Intervention 1; and
- Psychological Intervention 2; and
- Child and Adult Psychopathology and Psychopharmacology; and
- Child Psychological Assessment; and
- Adult Psychological Assessment; and
- Child Practicum and Seminar; and
- Adult Practicum and Seminar; and
- Psychology Research Project
- Health Promotion and Disease Prevention
