Back to Basics: Revitalizing Core Competencies in Burn Management
On October 5, 2024, the Burn Talk: Back to Basic conference was officiated by Dato' Dr. Zaini bin Hussin, the Director of the Kelantan State Health Department. The event attracted over 200 participants from across Malaysia, emphasizing the importance of burn injury management in primary care.
Throughout the day, expert-led sessions covered key topics such as burn injury types, initial management, airway control, wound assessment, and fluid resuscitation. Interactive case discussions provided attendees the chance to engage with real-life scenarios, with live Q&A sessions facilitated through Slido for dynamic participation.
Feedback collected from the participants revealed a high level of satisfaction, with an overall rating of 4.7 out of 5. Attendees praised the informative nature of the sessions, the expertise of the speakers, and the well-chosen venue. Many participants expressed a strong interest in seeing the event become an annual occurrence, with suggestions for future programs to include simulation-based training and more time for in-depth discussions.
