USM Signs MoU with PPKM Kelantan to Enhance Retirees’ Well-being and Community Development.

Kubang Kerian, 27 January 2026 – Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), through its School of Medical Sciences, has formalised a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Malaysian Government Retirees Association (PPKM) Kelantan State Chapter to strengthen strategic collaboration in the areas of academics, research, training, welfare initiatives and community development.

The collaboration creates opportunities for the implementation of various joint initiatives, including training programmes and workshops, research projects, welfare activities, staff and student engagement, knowledge exchange, as well as joint scholarly publications for mutual benefit.

The MoU signing ceremony was officiated by the Dean of the School of Medical Sciences, Professor Dr. Kamarul Aryffin Baharuddin, together with the Deputy Dean (Research and Innovation), Professor Dr. Asrenee Ab. Razak, representing USM. PPKM Kelantan was represented by its Chairman, Dato’ Haji Ismail Md Noor, and Dr. Muhamad Sulaiman.

In his remarks, Professor Dr. Kamarul Aryffin stated that the collaboration reflects USM’s ongoing commitment to expanding its academic role through inclusive and high-impact community engagement, particularly in enhancing the well-being of retirees and promoting community development.

Meanwhile, Dato’ Haji Ismail Md Noor described the MoU as a significant step in strengthening the role of retirees to continue contributing meaningfully to society through initiatives centred on knowledge, health and welfare.

The ceremony was also attended by members of the PPSP USM management team and representatives from PPKM Kelantan.
