The course aimed to produce a certified NRP provider with updated knowledge and skills for neonatal resuscitation. It also aimed to build better teamwork and enhance communication skills during newborn emergencies.
On day one, the course commenced with theory sessions covering lessons 1 to 14 based on the latest NRP 8th edition led by Dr Farohah Che Mat Zain (Neonatologist, HPUSM) with four other instructors. Through these sessions, candidates gained the latest updates on neonatal resuscitation, equipping them with updated and crucial knowledge for resuscitation. With energetic vibes from all the presenters, participants seemed to be focused and proactive during the session. In the evening, the course continued with an integrated skills practice on equipment check and initial steps. Participants were organized into five groups and supervised by experienced trainers.
The second day started with a 60-minute multiple-choice question (MCQ) examination. After a brief break, the course continued with the remaining practical stations of the integrated and performance skill practices. The engagement level was notably high,
with participants visibly enjoying the interactive learning experience. The day concluded with a photography session and a prize giving ceremony for the best candidates for doctor and paramedic. In the end, all candidates passed the examination and practical.
